What’s in a typical hamper?

The contents of a hamper vary between Food Banks depending on supply. The Mountain View Food Bank uses the Canadian Food Guide and tailors hampers to meet family needs for five to seven days. A typical hamper contains:

  • Fruit
  • Soup
  • Vegetables
  • Canned chicken, ham, salmon and tuna
  • Cereal
  • Cheese
  • Coffee / Tea
  • Crackers
  • Eggs
  • Jam
  • Juice
  • Macaroni & Cheese
  • Margarine
  • Milk
  • Pasta
  • Peanut Butter
  • Rice
  • Toiletries


Baby formula vouchers are provided for infants up to nine months of age.

Clients are able to help themselves to bread, pastry & fresh vegetables as available. As well, hygiene products, baby diapers and pet food are supplied when available.
